Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao has been lauded as a hero after he helped save the life of a young fan, according to reports in Colombia.

The United star was reportedly approached by a desperate mother three months ago, who has spent the last two years searching for a heart donor.

With three months' notice, Falcao acted quickly to help John Uyaban, a boy with a rare blood type or urgently needed help.

The 17-year-old boy had reportedly spent the last two years searching for a heart donor, to no avail, before Falcao stepped in.
